ITE ALUMNI HOMECOMING 2006

Last December 30, 2007 at 1:00PM, Alumni gathered for the first ever Alumi Homecoming of ITE. We expected a hundred of attendees but only a few were present due to some family affairs and that's why they find it hard to say 'NO' just to attend the said activity and most of them are in manila and were not allowed to take a vacation leave and so with the alumni abroad.

Dr. Engr. Gamboa, the ex-dean of COMSCI Department, who encourages us to make this event come into reality. Just imagine how tough it is to communicate and spread info through online. But indeed we made it. Thanks you so much sir.

Mrs. Agton, our Alumni Coordinator was there advising us to make the ITE alumni as official school activity and the officers will work on it.

Mr. Talavera witnessed the event too, still single and available *daw* Hehehe.

We would like to say thank you for those who came. It's our full pleasure to see each other again after long years.

We will do the best we can do for the next homecoming (which is this year) and we will make sure huge number of alumni will come.

Still, the blood of being UICIAN never fades.

Numerous alumni have gathered in an scheduled conference via YIM for discussion regarding the updates of the said event.

This event will be a BIG DAY for all of us. For years of absence, it is now our time to reunite and gather altogether ... for the very first time.

Part of the plans is to let us know from the majority if we make this event into reality. So we decided to free these form and letter to all of you to echo your presence to us. ITE Alumni Homecoming Plans Part 7

Last YM conference which took place last June 24, 2006 was focused on clarifying some issues concerning the activities to be conducted in the ITE Alumni Homecoming this December 27.

--> This still has to be clarified first. I don't remember having this one cleared up during the conversation.

Opening remarks
--> This will be done by Sir Gamboa, the Father of Computer Science in UIC.

Discussion with Mrs. Agton
--> This is one of the highlights of the event in which Mrs. Agton will give some helpful insights about being a UIC Alumni and other important matters that would be helpful in strengthening the group.

Election of Alumni Officers
--> OK

Flashback Presentation per batch (c/o batch Representatives)
--> This will be done by batch instead of having Joemar do the task. Each batch will plan out as to how this things will be carried out. Hmmm, I guess it would be better if there is some sort of a contest for this as well. Watcha think?

Web Design Contest
--> Again, this will be done per batch. So far, 100$ is at stake but Sir Gamboa is still waiting for other sponsors to contribute. I heard Sir Talyo is offering a couple of Lapads. So, start creating your websites now for some extra cash.

Last Saturday afternoon we had our usual Alumni Conference via YIM and it was attended by several newcomers from various ITE batches. Despite of the very crowded and floods of OFF Topics in the room we came up with updates regarding the ITE alumni homecoming.

Aside from the activities posted before, new ideas suggested which are seminars on the latest hardwares and softwares (specifically on PL and WEB), tips on how to create ideal resume for job application and careers in call centers.

Rayvelou Fabiana(batch 2001) prepared a talk about server technologies
Paul Domag(batch 2001) and Emats (batch 2002) *I do not know exactly his real name hehehe* are the suggested speakers for the latest PLs, and yet subject for confirmation.

Tips on how to create ideal resume etc...has no speakers yet.
Careers in call centers will take charge by Beth (oi! Ako yun) since I am connected in a call center now.

The venue is in UIC ANNEX AVR ( assuming we can have less number of alumni attendees) but many raised a suggestion what if there will be numerous attendees, so UIC annex gym or UIC audi are the recommendations.

By October, we will collect confirmation from all ITE ALUMNI who will attend the said homecoming for us to finalize the exact venue. So this will be done thru yahoogroups, itealumni blogsite and friendster (since many are active in this place)

Mr. Ariel Mogan(batch 1999) is sponsoring his hosting for the ITE ALUMNI OFFICIAL WEBSITE which will be based on the winners of the web design contest, and he is advising alumni to pay for the domain worth Php 850.00 per year.

The payment will take place during the homecoming and be collected by the newly elected Alumni Treasurer.

Spread the news to all alumni who are not yet aware of these. This will be the first ever alumni homecoming for UIC College Department.

The meat of the discussion that transpired during the ITE Alumni YM Conference is the selection of batch representatives, who are tasked to establish contact with batchmates and inform them about the plans and other relevant matters concerning the upcoming ITE Alumni Homecoming this December 27, 2006.

The following is the list of batch representatives:

As displayed above, batches 1999, 2000, 2002, and 2004 still don't have their batch reps so far. Concerned alumni belonging to these bacthes are encouraged to volunteer.

One of the highlights of the alumni homecoming will be the Best Batch Website Contest. Sir Randy has prepared prizes for the winners of the said contest.

More things will be discusses and more issues will be clarified as the Weekly YM Conference gets more and more support and attendance. Those who belong to those batches having no representatives are expected to join the said activity every Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.

ITE Alumni Homecoming Plans Part 3

This week's YM conference was graced by several ITE alumni from different batches. I would love to mention names here but due to exhaustion and laziness, that won't be done as of the moment. Anyways, lots of things have been thoroughly discussed. Well, when I say thoroughly, that means a lot of off-topics, annoying bold and large fonts, and a war-torn, shipwrecked, and run-on conversations. [LOLz]. Despite all that, we were able to come up with some results though.

All those who were present agreed to have an alumni homecoming this December. Still, the exact date is tentative. The main objective of the event is to gather all ITE alumni in one huge setting, probably inside the UIC's premises. The gathering shall involve a lot of learning and fun-filled activities such as, but not limited to, presentation, flash/graphics exhibit, parlor games, and of course the eating part. Who could ever forget that one right?

It was good to see a lot of ourITE comrades there in the conference and I would like to invite those who have not yet joined to please, be online every Saturday at 1 - 4 pm for our alumni chat.

Weekly YM Conference Did Not Push Through

Sir Gamboa pmed yours truly about the weekly YM conference of the ITE Alumni scheduled every Saturday at 1 - 4 PM. He asked if the conference will push through considering the "scarcity" of the number of IT Alumni online. Because of this, the YM Conference did not materialize this week.

We are hoping that more and more ITE Alumni will join the said activity next Saturday. See yah.

ITE Alumni Homecoming Plans Part 2

Just this afternoon, several ITE alumni have once again gathered in the YM Conference room to discuss the much-awaited [ahem] ITE Alumni Homecoming this December, most probably after Christmas. Ramesh Dataya, part of the BSCS Pioneers joined in with Jonas, Maribeth, Vernon, Sir Randy, and Sir Talyo. [I guess it is pretty much obvious that I was also there, right? lolz].

Anyway, Sir Gamboa, much to our delight, has once again used his dictatorial instincts [joke], and imposed a regular schedule for the YM Conference. According to Sir Randy, it would be much better if we, the Alumni, could have a conference chat every Saturday at 1 to 4PM. Here, we will get to know more about what's up with us these past years, and discuss the plans for the Homecoming.

In this regard, I am calling every ITE Alumni of UIC to please secure a Yahoo account (if you don't have one yet), and join in our conference every Saturday. Your presence is highly appreciated. Those who won't show up shall be punished severely, (by Sir Randy..joke).

Kinda Outdated, But For Those Who Don't Know Yet...

Yeah right. This can't be considered news anymore if we really stick to its exact definition. But since I consider this as a huge feat, and I'm sure most of you feel the same way too, this deserves to have a space here in this blog.

Our very own Paul June Domag, a supposedly BS Computer Science Batch 2001 grad though he was somehow delayed for some reasons (lolz), has made it to the international scene of prestige and fame as Microsoft gave him an MVP (Most Valuable Professional) in Visual Basic. This happened last January 2006 as stipulated in Paul's blog entry.

Aside from that, he is also an ACE (Award for Customer Excellence)awardee and is currently the top 3 poster as well as a moderator in the MSDN Forum.

Paul has been one of our toughest programmers way back in college, and has been consistently developing his skills up to now to measure up with people with whom Microsoft considered as experts in their fields.

Way to go Paul. We, your ITE family, are very very proud of you!

ITE Alumni Homecoming Plans

A group of CS Batch 2001 alumni (including myself), found themselves in a conference chat with their then Associate Dean, Randy Gamboa yesterday afternoon. The gathering was mainly to discuss the plans for the upcoming ALUMNI Homecoming for all the ITE alumni from 1999 - 2005.

Those who were present in that conference chat were Beth, Mark, Vernon, Rayve, Jonas, Roselyn B., and Owen. (I hope I didn't forget anybody.)

Though there were no definite plans yet for the event, it was agreed that the venue will be at the beach, though still there is no specific place mentioned.

Things will get clear the moment everthing is thoroughly discussed with Sir Gamboa.

All alumni are encouraged to join the activity which is tentatively scheduled on December 2006, probably after Christmas.
